Do my emergency contacts need the app?
No. Contacts receive email alerts even without WellAlert installed. If they do install it, they also get push notifications, in-app alerts, and, if you share it, your wellness status and location.
What happens if my phone dies before a check-in?
Escalation runs on our servers, not just your phone. If your check-in window passes without a response (even because your battery died), the alert to your contacts still goes out.
Does WellAlert call 911?
No. WellAlert alerts the people you choose. It is not a medical device and does not contact emergency services. In a life-threatening emergency, always call your local emergency number first.
Who can see my location?
Nobody, unless you turn location sharing on. It's off by default, and when enabled, only the contacts you select can see it. You can stop sharing at any time.
